Breaking Down the Jimmy Butler Trade, Day 3: My Opinion

6/28/2017

Welcome to The Truda Report everybody. Today will be my final day dealing with the Jimmy Butler trade. I'll be giving my opinion on the pros and cons for each side of the deal, and just an overall consensus on who won the trade. At the bottom of this article I will list some big news topics that I will be covering the next couple of days, so make sure to let me know which you want to hear about most. To do that, follow my Instagram @thetrudareport and comment which topic I should do tomorrow.

The Trade:
The Chicago Bulls received last years 5th overall pick Kris Dunn, Zach Lavine, and this years 7th overall selection which was Lauri Markkanen. The Minnesota Timberwolves received 2 time All Star Jimmy Butler and the 16th overall selection which was Justin Patton.

My Opinion:
The Bulls got fleeced. It's as simple as that. They gave up a top 10 player in the world, and got back what looks like a draft bust (Kris Dunn), an injured asset reliant on his explosiveness (Zach Lavine), and a decent draft pick (7th pick which was Lauri Markkanen). Now, obviously, when a team is entering a rebuild they can't be trying to get established veterans back; they need assets. My issue, though, is that one of those assets couldn't beat out RICKY RUBIO *gag* for the starting spot, and the other one is reliant on his explosiveness, but has an ACL injury. Markkanen seems like a good pick, and he could definitely become a great player, but getting back one promising player for an All Star is not enough.

Another thing completely wrong with this trade for the Bulls, is that they gave up their first round draft pick along with Jimmy Butler. When the goal is to acquire assets in exchange for a proven star, YOU CANNOT BE GIVING UP DRAFT PICKS. Justin Patton was selected in the 16th spot by the Timberwolves, which makes the Bulls look incredibly stupid, since he was considered a good fit for the Bulls. Markkanen and Patton could have been the Bulls big men of the future. Now, I'm not saying both Markkanen and Patton will turn out to be good players, because that's still and unknown. The point of drafting players, though, is to bring in young talent that could one day sprout into quality starters, or even stars. So in the Bulls situation, when your giving up Jimmy Butler for Dunn, Lavine, and Markkanen (which is not a good trade by the way), to then add in their draft pick is like exchanging a $20 bill for a $5 bill. It's just stupid and wasteful.

I'm a Chicago Bulls fan, so I spent a lot of time talking about the Bulls side of things. I want to turn quickly to the Timberwolves perspective. If you're Tom Thibodeau and you just got fleeced your former team, that makes this trade so incredibly sweet. Acquiring Jimmy Butler is a great achievement on any day, but the fact that he was able to leave a gash in the side of his former employer makes it a lot better. Butler's fit on the T-Wolves can be questionable in terms of floor spacing (they don't have many 3 point shooters) but his defense will help them infinitely. They are also reportedly shopping Ricky Rubio in hopes of getting back a good shooting point guard. If they can do that, this team is easily a Playoff contender. Minnesotans should be happy.

I'd like to say one last thing about the Bulls. I was a supporter of trading Jimmy Butler because I recognized the need to rebuild, but I also understood that his contract situation was perfect. He has two years left, so if the Bulls couldn't get the deal they wanted for Butler on draft night, there would still be no rush to trade Jimmy. The trade deadline of this upcoming season would then be the time to pull the trigger on a trade undervaluing Butler. Being a player with one year left on the contract significantly reduces their value (see Paul George) but players with multiple years left, at the trade deadline, INCREASE IN VALUE. Teams like the Celtics or Rockets that are on the brink of greatness would be willing to give up more than usual if they think acquiring a star could put them over the hump and win them a chip. This is especially the case when that said star has another year left on their contract, so they would be able to have multiple shots at a title with the team trading for them. It would be highly unlikely that Butler would go for this little at the trade deadline, so this was not a smart move by the Bulls front office.

Overall, I think the Bulls could either be lucky and come out of this with a starting point guard, shooting guard, and power forward, or come out of this like the losers they seem to be today. I hate to say it, but I think even Phil Jackson understands the value of players better than the Bulls do (and Phil thought that asking for the Celtics to give up this years number 3 pick, Jaylen Brown (last years number 3 pick), Jae Crowder, and the Nets 2018 first round pick was reasonable for Kristaps Porzingis). The Bulls got fleeced, and I'm ashamed to be their fan today.

Speaking of Phil Jackson, here are the possible topics for tomorrow:
  • Russel Westbrook wins MVP, but did he deserve it?
  • Phil Jackson is gone from New York.
  • Chris Paul traded to the Houston Rockets.

Breaking Down the Jimmy Butler Trade, Day 2: Minnesota Timberwolves

6/26/2017

Welcome to The Truda Report everybody. Today, just like yesterday, I'll be breaking down the reasoning for the Jimmy Butler trade. Yesterday I went through why the Bulls wanted to do the trade, so make sure to check that out if you missed it. Today I'll be going through the reasons the Minnesota Timberwolves wanted to make these moves, and tomorrow I'll be giving my opinion on the trade. Stay tuned for that. For updates concerning when I post these articles, follow my Instagram @thetrudareport.

Breaking Down the Trade:
Minnesota Timberwolves:

For the T-Wolves, there was obviously a lot to gain and not much to lose. This roster was full of young talent, and they just needed one veteran to help put them into Playoff contention. Karl Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins can't do it alone, so enter Jimmy Butler.

Butler is a two time All Star, is the recipient of the 2014-15 Most Improved Player award, was on the 2016 All NBA Defensive second team, and is easily a top 15 player in the league (most would put him top 10, but I'm playing it safe). Butler is a top 5 two way threat in this league, and his work ethic is unmatched. After being selected with the last pick in the first round, Butler worked his way to were he is now. Butler on this T-Wolves team reunites him with his former coach, Tom Thibodeau, who helped bring him to the point where he is today. This means Butler will have his full potential brought out, and this will be huge for Minnesota. Although they have many young play makers, they haven't been great defensively. Jimmy G. Buckets can help change that, as well as increase their offensive output. He is a HUGE acquisition.

Minnesota also got Justin Patton with the 16th overall pick in the draft. Patton won't make much of an impact as a rookie due to Karl Anthony Towns being the clear starter, but Patton's offensive versatility could earn him some minutes off the bench. Although selecting 16th isn't considered a great pick, this was huge for the Timberwolves because it means despite giving up two young assets and a draft pick, they get a young player back alongside Jimmy Butler.

Overall, this could end up being the steal of the off season for the Timberwolves. If the teams chemistry clicks and  progress the way it's expected, the Bulls front office could be left looking foolish. TO HEAR WHAT I THINK ABOUT THIS TRADE MAKE SURE TO READ MY ARTICLE TOMORROW.

New Series: Breaking Down the Jimmy Butler Trade

6/26/2017

Welcome to The Truda Report everybody. After spending the last 3 and a half days grieving over Chicago's loss of Jimmy Butler, I think I've been able to analyze enough of the trade to understand why it took place. Due to those reasons, I'll be breaking down the reasoning for the trade for the Bulls today, Timberwolves tomorrow, and I'll be giving my opinion of the trade Wednesday. Make sure to share this, and follow my Instagram @thetrudareport for updates on when I put up those articles.

Breaking Down the Trade:
Chicago Bulls:
For a lost Chicago Bulls organization who found themselves stuck in NBA purgatory, drowning in mediocrity season after season, this move finally gave them an identity. Although they had been avoiding a rebuild for years now, the Bulls front office finally realized it was time to lose for a year or two so they could start winning again soon after that. Due to this, gaining 3 young assets with untapped potential makes sense for a team entering a rebuild.

Kris Dunn is going into his second year in the NBA with a lot of pressure on him. He only played around 17 mpg last year, averaging just 3.8 ppg. That is clearly not good enough, but that isn't why the Bulls traded for him. Dunn is a defensive monster, averaging 1 steal and half a block in those same 17 minutes. Once his playing time is close to doubled next year (which should be expected since the Bulls will more than likely tank), Dunn's defensive statistics will be off the charts, and his offensive numbers should improve too.

Zach Lavine, the former Dunk Contest Winner, has proven to be a great offensive weapon. His three point shot has improved (he averaged 2.6 threes per game last season on 38% shooting behind the arc), and we all know he can be explosive when headed to the rim. The problem is, though, Lavine tore his ACL last season, and knee injuries have not been kind to past explosive Bulls players *cough* Derrick Rose *cough*. He is a major risk, but having a good offensive guard to complement Kris Dunn's defensive prowess could be good for the Bulls in the years to come. Also, the three point shooting helps, since the Bulls were towards the bottom of the league in that category last year.

The last part of this trade for the Bulls was drafting Lauri Markkanen with the number 7 pick. Lauri is being called the "Finnish Unicorn" as a joke, but it actually is pretty accurate in terms of his play style. Just like Kristaps Porzingis (the Unicorn) Markkanen is a 7 footer with a quick, high release that can shoot the crap out of a basketball. Lauri has ridiculous range, more so than Kristaps, and he can be deadly in pick and pop situations. He, just like Zach Lavine, will add much needed three point shooting to the Bulls squad.

Overall, this trade gives the Bulls much needed youth, three point shooting, and direction. MAKE SURE TO READ MY PIECE ON MINNESOTA TOMORROW, AND THEN MY OPINION WEDNESDAY.

Kristaps Porzingis and NBA Draft

6/22/2017

Welcome to The Truda Report everybody. Today I'll be hitting on the rumors surrounding the New York Knicks possibly trading their young star, Kristaps Porzingis. I'll also give a brief overview on what I feel could happen in the NBA Draft tonight.

Kristaps Porzingis:
Ever since Porzingis skipped his exit interview with Phil Jackson at the end of this season, there have been questions regarding his place on the Knicks. By skipping the meeting, Kristaps was clearly showing up Jackson in a move of pure disrespect so it shouldn't surprise anyone that there are rumors about him not liking his place on the team. What is surprising though, is that last night Phil Jackson confirmed that he is listening to offers, saying he needs to, "do whats right for the franchise." Considering that Jackson is, as Max Kellerman put it on First Take, "hot garbage as an executive," the best thing for the franchise would probably be for Phil Jackson to step down from his role as President of Basketball Operations; he shouldn't be trading Porzingis. When you're a bad team you need to draft well, acquire young talent, and then once you're on the rise you can either trade for or sign veterans. The Knicks did good by drafting Porzingis, but now giving him up makes no sense. They need to keep him, continue to draft well, and then soon they will become a free agent destination again. If New York decides to trade away the players that show promise in turning the franchise around, then they will continue to be a terrible team for the foreseeable future.

I want to change gears here and turn to a report that came out about the Knicks and Celtics today. Boston is in pursuit of Porzingis because he could be incredibly important piece for them offensively and defensively. In his two years in the NBA Kristaps averages 7.3 rebounds per game, 1.9 blocks per game, and last year posted 18.1 points per game. Keep in mind, the Celtics are a poor rebounding team and are relatively small on the court due to Isaiah Thomas standing at 5'9''. With Porzingis becoming a better offensive threat every year as well as being a 7 foot 3 rim protector, he would be a great fit for Boston. The issue is though, he isn't as good as the Knicks are valuing him. Phil Jackson is asking for the Celtics to give up this years number 3 pick, Jaylen Brown (last years number 3 pick), Jae Crowder, and the Nets 2018 first round pick. The Celtics wouldn't give up half of this for Jimmy Butler earlier this year, who is an established All Star and one of the best two way players in the game. Porzingis may be a rising star, but he is injury prone and still unproven in terms of being an actual game changer in this league. Danny Ainge, the Celtics general manager, is one of the best in the business, and in no way would accept an offer like that. Phil Jackson needs to make up his mind and either legitimately try to move Porzingis or keep him and try to make amends for the better of the team.

NBA Draft:
In this section I'm just going to quickly hit on what I see as being interesting in tonight's draft.
  • The Philadelphia 76ers are expected to take Markelle Fultz first overall tonight, but the dramatic in side of me has me thinking, what if they don't? I know it isn't likely, but I love seeing chaos on draft night.
  • Due to the Lakers trading D'Angelo Russell a couple days ago, expect Lonzo Ball to be taken second overall.
  • If the Celtics don't end up trading the pick, who will go third overall? I think Jayson Tatum makes the most sense for them since they need scoring, but Josh Jackson is an incredible talent so you never know.
  • I'm really intrigued by De'Aaron Fox. I think he could become a left handed version of John Wall, and possibly the best point guard out of this draft. A lot of people have projected him to go fifth overall to the Sacramento Kings, which I think I agree with, but there is the possibility someone trades up for him and takes him higher.
  • Speaking of Kentucky players and the Sacramento Kings, Malik Monk, Fox's partner in crime, could end up being taken by the Kings in the tenth spot of tonight's draft. It is very likely Monk is selected at either 9 or 10, so I think it would be great if the two met up in the NBA.
  • The last thing that really has me thinking is the possibility of teams trading back. It happens almost every single year, and teams like the Lakers, Suns, and Celtics could use those picks in their pursuit for established talent through the trade market.

Announcement and NBA News

6/20/2017

Welcome to The Truda Report everybody. After two weeks of final exams, I have my life back, so now I'll be able to write again. Expect an article about every two days. Today I'll be hitting on some of the biggest news in the NBA recently. With the draft approaching, there is a lot going on so I'll try and cover as much as I can.

Celtics Trade Back to 3:
This trade between the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers has a major impact on a lot of the recent NBA news. One of those things is the value of Markelle Fultz. Danny Ainge, the Celtics General Manager, said that the person Boston wants to draft will very likely be there at the third pick, meaning Markelle Fultz may not be what he was made out to be. Philadelphia is clearly in love with him, but if the Celtics don't like him over one of the lower ranked players, it raises questions about what they saw as red flags. Personally, I think that Boston has bigger needs than guard, and their end goal is to pass the Cavs, which I don't think Fultz could help them do.

This trade also brought up questions about what the Celtics were doing in the trade market. By moving back Boston acquired either the Lakers first round pick next year (if it falls between 2-5), or the Kings first round pick two years from now. That can definitely be used in a trade package for a player the likes of Kristaps Porzingis, Jimmy Butler, or Paul George. Speaking of Jimmy Butler, he was part of the reason the Celtics were willing to trade back. There were reports saying that the Chicago Bulls were trying to trade up to the third overall pick with the 76ers, and they were willing to deal Butler. Not only does this mean the Celtics and Bulls could enter serious conversation about a trade, but it brings up more questions about Markelle Fultz. The Bulls know that Boston wants Butler, but Chicago clearly didn't feel like they needed the number one pick to have a chance at their preferred prospect. Once again, it brings up questions of whats wrong with Markelle.

Jimmy Butler:
I already started talking about him, but there is more than just rumors involving Butler and the Celtics. Jimmy G Buckets has been involved in rumors with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, and Cleveland Cavaliers. The Suns could provide the Bulls with a top 4 draft pick which would be huge for the Bulls, but the Cavs can offer an established player in Kevin Love. In the Cavs case, they also know that if the Bulls trade Butler they will want draft picks too, so there was talk about Cleveland wanting to do a multi team trade. This could send either Love or picks to the Bulls. As a Bulls fan I would much rather see them acquire as many draft picks as possible rather than players, but it has yet to be seen what Chicago wants to do.

Note: It has yet to be verified, but The Chicago Times has said Jimmy Butler is pushing for the Bulls to trade him to the Cavs.

Paul George:
Early on Monday a report came out saying Paul George told the Pacers he is going to leave them next year in free agency. In response the Pacers are actively shopping him, but there is a lot of risk involved for a team receiving PG13. George's contract runs out after next season and he has made it very clear he wants to go to the Lakers next summer. That means anyone receiving him basically has him as a one year rental. Due to this a lot of talk started about a possible acquisition on PG13 by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He would give them a much better chance against the Warriors, and there would also be the hope that winning would convince him to stay in Cleveland rather than head to L.A. Of course, it's not just the Cavs interested in Paul George though. Many reports have come out from all over the league saying their team wants to acquire George. So far, over 6 teams have reportedly expressed interest.

David Griffin Gone:
Today David Griffin, the Cleveland Cavaliers GM, is officially stepping down. His contract was up, and he didn't want to resign. Reports have come out saying that Dan Gilbert, the Cavs owner, is part of the reason he is leaving. Gilbert is notoriously hard to deal with, so this shouldn't be much of a surprise. There is a lot to get into here (possibly an article about this tomorrow), but for now I want to focus on how this impacts Paul George and Jimmy Butler. Now that Griffin isn't there to help make decisions, the fate of a Cavs trade will fall into the hands of Dan Gilbert. Gilbert, being a greedy owner, reportedly prefers Jimmy Butler over Paul George because he has a longer and cheaper contract. I'm a huge Butler fan and I would take him over Paul George any day, but to be fair, PG13 makes more sense for the Cavs needs. If you live in Cleveland, no matter who the Cavs acquire (if they get anyone) you should be happy, but just hope Gilbert doesn't make his decision based on money. The Cavs need rings right now, not spare change.

Tomorrow:
I want to get into the emerging Kristaps Porzingis trade rumors tomorrow, so expect another article. Make sure to share this with your friends, and follow my Instagram @thetrudareport for updates on when I post new articles.

NBA Finals Game 3 Prediction

6/7/2017

Welcome to The Truda Report everybody. Today I'll be giving my prediction for tonight's Game 3 of the NBA Finals. Make sure to follow my Instagram @thetrudareport for updates on when I post and the freedom to comment what topics you want to hear about.

Game 3:
After watching the Golden State Warriors annihilate the Cleveland Cavaliers twice last week, I have lost a lot of faith in their ability to win a single game. I originally picked this series to go six games, with the Warriors winning, but I don't see that now. I think this series goes five games maximum, contingent on one thing - the Cavaliers slow down the pace of the game. The first two games of these Finals are the fastest paced games LeBron James has ever played in the Playoffs, and he has played 214 Playoff games (8th most all time). I think he and the Cavs need to realize that they can't beat the Warriors at their own game (fast pace, quick threes, finesse style of play). With the Cavaliers back at home their role players should definitely play better than they have previously this series, and if LeBron and Kyrie slow the pace and play hero ball, the Cavs have a shot.

I say all of this to set up a reality I think Cleveland fans need to face. If the Cavaliers don't slow the pace and lose tonight's game, this series will be over by midnight on Friday. It doesn't matter if Cleveland loses by one tonight; a third loss will be the end of their season. Of course, if the Cavs win, depending on how effective they are tonight (if they can blow out the Warriors), then they may be able to also snag a win in Game 4. I don't see that happening though, because even if the Cavs do slow the pace and make this game close I don't have confidence in them actually winning it.

Before I leave you, I'd like to bring up one news headline relating to what I have been saying. There is a report out saying Ty Lue is planning on speeding up the pace of the game even more tonight. I love Lue, and I think he is a good coach, but if David Blatt was fired for basically no reason, Lue not realizing the Cavs need to slow the pace should be a fire-able offense. In no way am I trying to say he should be fired, but based on the recent history of this Cavs team, this is the kind of thing I wouldn't put past LeBron.

NBA Finals Games 1&2 Reaction and Notes

6/5/2017

Welcome to The Truda Report everybody. I apologize for not getting my NBA Finals Game 2 prediction out, but today I'm here to react to and analyze what happened in the first two games. Make sure to follow my Instagram @thetrudareport for updates on when I post more articles.

Games 1 and 2 Reaction and Notes:
We all knew how much of an impact Kevin Durant could have in these Finals, but seeing it happen was something different. Possibly the only people in the world happy about KD joining the Warriors were packed into Oracle Arena, and the amount of noise they made every time he scored the basketball was incredible. Despite the game being a 113-91 blowout, it was exciting to watch the greatness of this Durant led Warriors team. Durant was easily the best player on the floor during Game 1, scoring at will from either the paint or behind the arc. I found that the only time the Cavs had any chance of stopping him is when he was in the post against Kevin Love. Otherwise, KD proved a mismatch against everyone. LeBron James of 4 years ago may have had the speed and athleticism to keep up, but he definitely doesn't now.

I found that part of the Cavs issue in stopping Durant (during Game 1) came from their defense against Klay Thompson. Obviously, he is not a guy you want taking open threes, but every time Golden State had a fast break, the defenders would run to stop the three, not the ball handler. That meant consistent buckets for Durant in the paint. After seeing that Klay was once again off shooting the ball, I feel the Cavs should have paid less attention to him and more to stopping Durant. Cleveland did try some of this in Game 2, but they routinely made poor fouls and failed to cease Golden States scoring. Also, Klay showed up on the scoring end in Game 2, which made the Cavaliers new strategy useless.

By the way, Steph Curry is not receiving as much credit as he should be. In the second half of Game 1 Curry went off from the three point line helping ice the game for the Warriors. Also, his ability to finish at the rim has been a huge issue for the Cavs because just like on the fast breaks, when they close out on the three too quickly it opens up a lane for Curry to drive. To be fair, Curry had 8 turn overs in Game 2 so he hasn't been perfect, but I feel like he has been overlooked lately.

Something I noted about the Cavs is that Kyrie Irving and LeBron James look like they are playing in the NBA of five years ago. The team they are facing, the Warriors, have proven to everyone that a pace and space offense with effective shooting wins games, and yet both Irving and James continuously played ISO basketball. I understand that that is what they do best, and it's fine if that's what they want to, but they need to be consistent with it. I keep seeing the Cavs push the ball down the court and jack up threes (which plays right into the Warriors hand), but then sometimes they slow the pace and play ISO basketball. I think they need to choose one or the other, and stick to that game plan. A team without an identity is not going to be able to beat the Warriors.

Lastly, I'd like to bring up something that Colin Cowherd brought up today on his show (The Herd with Colin Cowherd on FS1). He said that when watching these games, LeBron James, who is putting up incredible numbers, is disappearing on the court. What he means is that the Warriors are drawing you in, making the big plays, being the exciting people to follow, and for the first time LeBron isn't. I think this ties into what I was saying earlier about Kevin Durant's proficiency these last two games. Instead of LeBron playing the hero, it has been Durant. Multiple times Durant has hit a big three, made a rim shaking dunk, or an emphatic block. LeBron, on the other hand, has been playing great basketball but due to his teams lack of success he has turned into a Gordon Hayward - consistently good, but not flashy enough to draw your attention.

NBA Finals Game 1 Preview

6/1/2017

Welcome to The Truda Report everybody. After about a weeks break, I'm back to writing articles. Schools almost done, so the essays are piling up and I've had less time to write, but now that The Finals are here, I'm making sure this is a priority. Today I'll be previewing the NBA Finals match up between the Warriors and Cavs, giving insight into each team, as well as my prediction for the series.

Golden State Warriors:
The Warriors swept their way through the Western Conference to reach their third straight NBA Finals, and it looks like they are the favorites to win. I think if they are going to pull this off this year, there are a couple things that must happen though. One is the Curry vs. Irving match up. We saw last season that if LeBron and Kyrie are on a roll, they can carry the Cavs to victory. That means Steph Curry needs to try and counteract that this year. A lot of people are talking about this like Curry needs to find a way to play well offensively and defensively to stop Irving but that's blasphemy. If Curry is going to slow Kyrie down, it's going to happen when the Warriors have the ball. Irving is going to be guarding Steph a lot of the time, and if Curry makes him work hard defensively it makes running an offense harder. On the defensive end Klay Thompson will be guarding Irving, so there is no reason for that to be a factor in the Curry vs. Irving match up discussion. I keep hearing people say Kyrie being a better defender makes him more valuable in these Finals, but that just isn't true.

The next thing the Warriors need is for Draymond Green to keep his head on straight. Last year the Warriors would have won in 5 games if it weren't for Green getting suspended, so that can't happen again this year. Trash talk and physical play are huge factors in these big games, so the Warriors need to have other "enforcers" such as JaVale McGee and David West step into Draymond's role. There is no reason for Draymond to not keep up his physical style of play, as well as his trash talk, but he needs to keep it under control. If the Warriors get into the Cavs head, and show that they aren't just a finesse team, then Cleveland will have a problem.

Lastly, the clutch factor is going to be hugely important. Steph has yet to show his clutch play in The Finals, and the jury is still out on Kevin Durant. If Steph and KD want to shut up the haters, they need to play big. Cleveland's two best players match up against these two, so Curry and Durant need to show that they are either better or just as good in these moments. When Golden State needs to make a big shot, one of these two need to step up.

Other Needs for the Warriors:
  • Klay Thompson needs to find his rhythm
  • Don't let the Cavs bench hurt you from 3

Cleveland Cavaliers:
The Cavs definitely have their work cut out for them. In order to win back to back titles, they are going to have to beat the undisputed best team in the NBA. I think, just like for the Warriors, there are 3 paramount factors for them to win The Finals. One is physicality. The off ball screens are the most lethal thing on the Warriors because that's how Curry, Klay, and Durant end up wide open from 3 point range so often. Cleveland needs to fight through those screens and bump Warriors players when they make cuts across the court. If the Warriors are uncomfortable, they won't be able to shoot you out of the gym. Sadly for Cavs fans, a lot of that falls into the hands of the referees and how they call these games, so cross your fingers if your cheering on LeBron.

The next thing is that the Cavs have to play well off the bench. Golden States "death lineup" is called that for a reason. They will kill you in every aspect of the game. That's going to leave a lot up to the Cavs bench players. One of the things I said about the Warriors is they can't let the Cavs bench shoot well from three, and it's just the opposite for Cleveland. That's what makes this bench so lethal. With Kyle Korver as the Cavs 7th or 8th option, you can say they are comfortable with their bench's 3 point shooting.

Finally, the Cleveland Cavaliers need LeBron James to play like the G.O.A.T. If he wants the Michael Jordan comparisons, he needs to play like MJ. LeBron has always tended to shy away from the big moment, letting others take pivotal final shots, but that can't necessarily happen this year. If Kyrie Irving is hot, let him close (we saw him do it last year in Game 7). If not though, LeBron needs to play hero ball. It's sort of ironic that LeBron tries to get the ball to the open man in the final moments of the game, which is exactly the strategy of the Warriors, his opponent. Since Golden State is is enemy now though, and everyone is looking at LeBron to come save the NBA from Kevin Durant's super team, he needs to stop doing that. LeBron, be the opposing force everyone wants you to be. Take big shots. Make big shots. Show us why your the greatest. You are the Cavaliers only chance of winning.

Other Needs for the Cavaliers:
  • Don't let Curry get hot from 3, because that will be your demise
  • Don't forget about Klay, he can kill you when you least expect it

Prediction:
After about a week and a half of thought, I have made my decision. There is a part of me saying that the Warriors will manhandle the Cavs and take it in 5, but there is the side preaching the greatness of LeBron James. I decided in between these two extremes, officially predicting the Golden State Warriors to win in 6 games. After a full year of anticipating this match up I everything in me wants a 7 game series but I think Golden State is too good to let that happen. I think that 5 of the 6 games will be down to the wire, so I'm expecting a good series, but I just don't see how the Cavs can match up with this Warriors team. I hope this series goes 7, so Cleveland find a way to prove me wrong, but for now I'm saying Warriors in 6.
