News: NFL Free Agency, Curry Record Breaking

3/6/2017

Here are the latest stories in sports news:
NFL:
  • With Jimmy Garoppolo looking like he will remain the Patriots backup, QB's are in high demand on the market.  For instance, the below average (that's a generous opinion by the way) Mike Glennon could be making $14-15 million a year.  That's a ridiculous amount of money heading a players way that has a career passer rating of 84.6 and only 4,100 yards in 4 seasons in the league.
  • The Buccaneers agreed to a 5 year $37 million contract with $13.5 guaranteed money.  This comes as no surprise as he was a priority for the Buccaneers to re-sign.
  • The NFL Scouting Combine ended today, with some of the best performances coming on Sunday.  Haason Reddick solidified himself as the top linebacker available in this years draft.  He ran an impressive 4.52 second 40 yard dash, 36.5 inch vertical jump, and 133 inch broad jump.  Another freakish talent solidified himself as not only the best at his position, but the best overall talent.  Myles Garrett posted a 4.64 second 40, 33 bench reps, 41 inch vertical jump, and 128 inch broad jump.  Not only was his on field play enough to consider him the best player in the draft, but his pure talent has pretty much solidified him as a must take at the No. 1 pick.
  • The 49ers released Torrey Smith only 2 seasons into his new deal worth $40 million. The rebuilding Niners most likely did it to clear cap space as they try to rebuild.  Smith underperformed with only 20 receptions, 267 yards, and 3 touchdowns this past season.
  • Julio Jones is expected to miss 4-5 months as he is set to get foot surgery.  This shouldn't be too much of a concern to the Falcons as Jones played with an injured foot all playoffs and still played at an incredible level.
  • Tony Romo will be pursued by the Broncos if he is released by the Cowboys.
NBA:
  • Steph Curry ended his shooting slump last night as he made his way into the top 10 career 3 point shots made with 1,833.
  • Tonight the Knicks play the Magic, the Heat play the Cavaliers, the Bulls play the Pistons, the Bucks play the 76ers, the Warriors play the Hawks, and the Nets play the Grizzlies.
